Atyrau Refinery exports first batch of aromatic hydrocarbons to China

The first batch of paraxylene of the Atyrau Oil Refinery in a total volume of 300 tonnes was sent to China on Wednesday, December 12. Last week, the AOR reported on the start of shipment of paraxylene.

Paraxylene along with another petrochemical product - benzene - is a product of the Complex for the production of aromatic hydrocarbons. The production capacity is 133 thousand tonnes of benzene and 496 thousand tonnes of paraxylene per year. "Myrzabek Saktaganov, the General Director of the Kuryk port, reached an agreement on the monthly transhipment of up to 40 thousand tonnes of commodity paraxylene and 10 thousand tonnes of benzene through the port in 2019," the port press service emphasised.

The first consignment was sent from the Kuryk ferry complex by the Azerbaijani Barda ferry, then through the ports of Azerbaijan and Georgia to China. "Currently, 6 more tanks are being prepared for loading," the press service said.

The Atyrau Refinery is one of three refineries in Kazakhstan, controlled by KazMunaiGas. Kuryk port is located 100 km south of Aktau port, located on the line of the Trans-Caspian international transport route, which runs through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia and further to Turkey and European countries.
