Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science and Technology Company Limited (中聯重科股份有限公司 or Zoomlion) is a Chinese mechanical engineering company, the largest manufacturer of construction, agricultural, loading, sanitary and fire equipment, as well as heavy trucks. Founded in 1992 in Changsha, Hunan Province. Zoomlion is one of the five largest manufacturers of construction equipment in the world, and is also included in the Forbes Global 2000 ranking of the world’s largest companies.

  

HISTORY
Founded in 1992 as Zoomlion Construction Mechanical Industry Company, which specialized in the production of concrete pumps. In October 2000, Zoomlion shares became listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. In 2001, Zoomlion acquired Powermole, the British company. In 2008, Zoomlion Heavy Industry acquired a 60% of shares in CIFA, the Italian company (Milan), the third largest manufacturer of concrete machines in the world. In 2016, Zoomlion planned to buy Terex company, the second largest American manufacturer of construction equipment, but the deal did not take place. Due to earlier losses, in the spring of 2017, Zoomlion sold its sanitary equipment division for 1.7 billion US dollars to a group of Chinese investors.

MARKET SIZE
As of 2020, 53.9% of sales were from cranes, 29.3% from concrete equipment, 4.1% from earthmoving equipment, 4.1% from agricultural equipment, 1.7% from equipment leasing, and other financial services, 7.5% from other products. The Chinese market accounted for 94.7% of all sales (in 2019 - 92.5%)[17]. Zoomlion’s sales and service network covers about 100 countries, the company’s largest markets for finished products and spare parts are Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar; South Korea, Taiwan, Mongolia; UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Israel, Turkey, Iran, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan; India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal; Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia; Algeria, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania; Brazil, Argentina, Mexico; USA, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Germany, France.

PRODUCTION FACILITIES
Zoomlion has 14 industrial and technology parks in China and five abroad. Zoomlion industrial plants are located in Changsha (Zoomlion Science and Technology Industrial Park, Zoomlion 1 Lugu Industrial Park, Zoomlion 2 Lugu Industrial Park, Zoomlion Wangcheng Industrial Park, Zoomlion Quantang Industrial Park), Changde (Zoomlion Guanxi Industrial Park, Zoomlion Hanshou Industrial Park, Zoomlion Deshan Industrial Park, Zoomlion Jinshi Industrial Park), Yuanjiang (Zoomlion Yuanjiang Industrial Park), Weinan (Zoomlion Weinan Industrial Park), Huayin (Zoomlion Huayin Industrial Park), Songjiang (Zoomlion Songjiang Industrial Park), Wuhu (Zoomlion Wuhu Industrial Park), Kaifeng (Zoomlion Kaifeng Industrial Park), Milan (CIFA), Pune (Khed City Industrial Park), Germany (M-Tec), Brazil and Belarus. In the Belarusian Great Stone industrial park there is a plant for the production of special equipment. At the facilities of the Mogilevtransmash plant, a Joint Venture for the production of construction and municipal vehicles was created between Zoomlion and MAZ.

SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
Zoomlion includes the Changsha Construction Machinery Research Institute (Changsha) and the Concrete Machinery Research Center (Changsha).
